Evaluación de los factores etiológicos con relación al síndrome doloroso de disfunción miofascial. estudio clínico en 100 estudiantes de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Antioquia

Se hizo un estudio en 100 estudiantes de odontología (51 mujeres, 49 hombres) con edad promedio de 22 años, con el fin de evaluar la incidencia de algunos factores etiológicos relacinados con el síndrome de disfunción dolorosa miofascial- SDDM-, entre los cuales se estudió: la función muscular, el aspecto sicológico de personalidad para evaluar eñ grado de neuroticismo, test anamnésico y examen clínico detallado, sometiendo los resultados a pruebas estadísticas.
Entre los hallazgos más importantes podemos citar los siguientes:
1. El 81% de los estudiados presentaron algún grado de disfunción aunque los signos y síntomas fueron siempre mayores en mujeres.
2. El 84% tenían edad promedio de 22 años.
3. Los signos clínicos más frecuentes fueron: dolor a la palpación de ATM (58%), salto final uni o bilateral (58%), desviación a la apertura (51%), dolor a palpación muscular (49%).
4. El 82% presentaban parafunción.
5. A mayor índice de neuroticismo, mayor grado de disfunción.
6. La oclusión dinámica tuvo alta incidencia en el grado de disfunción.
7. Los individuos que presentaban alto neuroticismo y desarmonías en la oclusión funcional tenía disfunción alta.
