Be Woman and Be Mother: Tensions in Two Dead by Suicide in Colombia Pregnant Women during 2010-2011

Tensions between being a woman and being a mother are observed in the interpretation that the families of two pregnant women died by suicide give this event. It is qualitative research, phenomenological-hermeneutic approach, case study method. Semi-structured interviews. In the stories of both families emerge category Being a woman and three trends around the personality characteristics of both women, they established close relationships and contradictions and ambivalences in the mother to be found. For these two women, motherhood was not a protective factor against suicide, pregnancy contributed to trigger this decision coupled with conflicting experiences of couples, emotions and confused and ambivalent feelings.
