Abstract

The aim of this original study was to examine the associations between the use of social networks and Orthorexia Nervosa (on), an Eating Behavior Disorder (ed) characterized by the occurrence of restrictive dieting and social isolation. To achieve this, a transactional non-experimental study design with a correlational scope was proposed, whose sample was selected with a non-probabilistic design. Participants completed the orto-15 questionnaire to establish criteria for Orthorexia Nervosa and the scoff in order to identify their risk of ed. Accordingly, the information collected included sociodemographic data, frequent social networking and eating habits. The overall result indicates that 52% of the participants presented on behaviors and significant associations between following social network accounts that provide information about eating and on indicators.
