Abstract

In honour of Jesús María Valle, this essay claims for the horizons humanization and broadening towards a democratic ethics for the orders of realization of the social field. This way of conceiving the unity of citizens in an alternative value-supported and universal sense is, without question, a virtue of reason. It is then about vindicating a theory of practical reason and public ethics based upon a rational discourse registered on morality values. To achieve this, it is drawn up a path shinning with a plethora of teachings which goes from the occidental culture, not forgetting the rousseaunian and kantian assumptions about human dignity, to a wide range of authors who restore the “modern emancipating project” and make us to evoke the following imperative: we must not lean on “the reason of force” but on “the force of reason”.
