La profesión de la Educación Social surge en
España como resultado del cambio social experimentado
por su transición a la democracia. De
ahí que el perfil delineado para la nueva disciplina siga la
idea de que la formación profesional debe orientarse,
principalmente, al servicio directo de las personas en un
ámbito específico y, en un contexto más amplio, estar
dirigidas a la atención de la ciudadanía. Esta experiencia
es atractiva para países como el nuestro, que comenzamos
a vivir procesos de transición y cambio en distintos
aspectos, a los cuales la renovación de los perfiles
profesionales no debería ser ajena.
