Abstract

El presente artículo analiza diversos aspectos de la enseñanza de la geografía para el desarrollo sustentable en Chile. Actualmente, esta temática ha cobrado una gran importancia debido a los desequilibrios experimentados entre el desarrollo económico y la necesidad de conservación de los recursos naturales para las generaciones futuras. Se enfatiza el rol de la educación geográfica en la formación de actitudes acordes con los principios de la sustentabilidad ambiental. El trabajo se generó como fruto de la tesis de doctorado desarrollada en la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Argentina, mediante la cual se diseño un modelo para la enseñanza-aprendizaje del desarrollo rural sustentable desde la perspectiva geográfica. El creciente interés en la enseñanza de la geografía para el desarrollo sustentable está conectado al perfeccionamiento de profesores de geografía en el cual el uso de nuevas tecnologías es un componente valioso de esta nueva tendencia.
