An analysis on the relevance of homework: suggestions for future studies

The studies within the field of education intended to analyze homework are scarce and limited.A web search on this topic ends in countless sites focusing on advising parents and teachers, and showing the best way to accompany or regulate homework.However, very few studies focus, from an analytical perspective, on the relevance and contributions of homework in teaching-learning processes.Having in mindseveral perspectives, this article seeks to concisely gather the different viewpoints on the topic, in order to approach the current state of the art.We will initially present some of the main research projects and studies on the topic; next, we will analyze the effects of e-learning when used as the only way to accompany the assignments students do outside the school; in the third place, we will mention homework analyses by some classic and contemporary pedagogues, and finally we will refer to homework as an expression of the diverse currents of didactics within the contributions of the psychology of learning.
