En este artículo se critica la propuesta posmoderna de transformar el trabajo etnográfico mediante el replanteamiento y modificación de la estructura del texto, sin preocuparse de lo que ocurre en el trabajo de campo, en el cual las relaciones opresivas, desiguales y autoritarias se mantienen. El autor contrapone su propia experiencia y la de grupos solidarios con el movimieno indígena en Colombia, en la que se logró establecer nuevas relaciones y profundos cambios en la escritura etnográfica, durante su participación-investigación en las luchas indígenas.
