Abstract. This paper describes the main syntactic schemes of predication in the Wounan language, in the Indian protected area of Papayo, Municipio of Litoral del Bajo San Juan, Department of Choco (Colombia, South America). This description contains a synthesis of the classes of words and the typology of their constructions, as well as the combinatory possibilities of the different predicates. The methodology used is that suggested by the CCELA (Colombian Center of Aboriginal Language Studies), which articulates ethnography and descriptive linguistics. Three stages were necessary to reach the outcomes here presented: first, the phonetic/phonologic stage; second, the morphologic description; and, lastly, the syntactic analysis of the language
