IIn this article we examine, from a variety of stories of men and women, young and old, how they lived through the war and forced migration in ex- Yugoslavia. An event that has completely changed the balance of power they had previously lived in Yugoslavia. These are stories of exile by sex, age and ethnicity, which tell the uprooting of what had been their land, their homes, and their friendships. An event that has completely changed their lives and now part, and forever, their individual and social memory.
