Abstract

A direct relationship exists among the techniques of coal extraction and health, the labor risk and the market of the product. The employed techniques are associated to the legality or illegality of the exploitation of the mineral and to the behavior, role and vision ofthe world according to the worker. 82% of the active mines is illegal, with the biggest factors of risk and with deteriorated conditions of health. Equally it is in this type of mines where there are low profitability, bigger ecological deterioration, absence of managerial organization, absence of technical attendance, nonexistence of preventive programs in health, the worker's lower educational level and a bigger presence of problems related to drug consumption and alcoholism.
