A review is presented on some aspects of sepsis, with emphasis on cardiovascular alterations; the following subjects are included: reasons for increasing frequency of sepsis, up to date terminology, diagnostic criteria, pathogenesis, manifestations of cardiovascular disfunction, present day therapy and therapeutic perspectives.
