Comparación de la actividad catalítica de Ti-MCM-41 y Ti-BETA en la epoxidación de limoneno

Se sintetizaron Ti-MCM-41 y Ti-BETA y su actividad catalítica de ambos materiales se comparó en la epoxidación de limoneno, utilizando peróxido de hidrógeno (H202) como agente oxidante. Se encontró que un tiempo igual o superior a tres días de calentamiento a 100 ºC es suficiente para obtener la fase hexagonal MCM-41, pero cuando se calienta diez días, a 100 ºC la fase mesoporosa, disminuye. Por otro lado, el aumento de titanio (Ti) en el gel de síntesis disminuye el rendimiento de dicha fase. Los análisis espectroscópicos en la región UV-VIS e IR revelaron que en ambos materiales el Ti se encuentra coordinado en un ambiente químico tetraedral. Las micrografias de alta resolución (SEM), de Ti-MCM-41, indican que la morfología cambia con la carga de Ti. El Ti-MCM-41 fue más activo (conversión 25%) que el Ti-BETA (conversión 5%) para la epoxidación de limoneno, aunque la selectividad del TiBETA (60%) es comparable a la del material Ti-MCM-41 sintetizado con mayor carga de Ti.
