José María Samper. Nación y cultura en el siglo XIX colombiano

El complejo ámbito de la literatura colombiana del siglo XIX no ha sido precisamente el objeto más preciado de la tradición de estudios literarios del país. Por fortuna, a lo largo de las últimas décadas han comenzado a circular libros, capítulos de libro y artículos académicos que se ocupan de la poco visitada vida literaria decimonónica colombiana. En este marco, y sin desconocer a quienes han allanado su camino, la investigadora de Queen Mary, Universidad de Londres Patricia D’Allemand ofrece a la comunidad académica el libro José María Samper. Nación y cultura en el siglo XIX colombiano, obra que constituye una prueba de que los estudios en torno de la vida intelectual y literaria de la Colombia del siglo XIX cobran cada vez más fuerza. El texto de D’Allemand —producto de un largo proceso de investigación, es preciso señalarlo— se propone emprender una lectura exhaustiva y orgánica de la obra del intelectual colombiano decimonónico José María Samper, lectura que trascienda los lugares comunes a que ha sido reducida y que retome aspectos descuidados de la misma, y en este sentido permita revelar la complejidad del proyecto creador de Samper (3).

- The authors will sign the declaration of transfer of economic rights to the Estudios de Literatura Colombiana, after acceptance of the manuscript.
