Abstract
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
It has recently been realized that there is an important relationship that cannot be ignored between the health conditions of countries and the characteristics of their state institutions.
The characteristic of highlighting this importance is that it places in a political dimension the efforts to generate health conditions corresponding to the expectations of each community.
If the approach to health has entered the political dimension, in correspondence with the interpretation of the characteristics and functions of the Modern State, it is only logical that this political approach may be different according to how the State is interpreted.
It is therefore necessary to discuss a few approaches to the State and try to draw some consequences that would derive from each of them for the political struggle for health.
