One of the stronger conditions anchored to the foundations of humanity is the one that defines us as spatial beings. At school as in other places where human existence is defined, various expressions which reflect the type of relationship woven by the subjects in their context become evident. These relationships are fraught with meaning, not only because each subject gives the spaces emotional burden, but because the spaces as social constructions, involve meanings that affect the way we interact with them. The research exercise presented here analyses the relationship that students at the Colombo Frances School have woven with the places around their school. For this reason, theoretical approaches are presented to highlight the concept of place as fundamental meaning of geographical space and; therefore, suggest said concept to be meaningfully incorporated to teaching Social Sciences.
