Desde la perspectiva de la "arqueología del saber" (Foocault, 1970, 1973), el autor analiza siguiendo el ejemplo específico de la "cerámica marrón inciso"- el discurso hegemónico de la arqueología regional en lo tocante al status epistemológico, a los contenidos y los supuestos subyacentes a las categorías utilizadas para dar cuenta del problema de la clasficiación de los artefactos cerámicos en esta región de Colombia.
