La autorreflexión constituye una muestra de madurez en el ámbito de cualquier disci-plina que busque su continuidad dentro de lo que consideramos científico (y más en las ciencias sociales), ya que el abordar temas sensibles y problemáticos abre puertas para el cambio de perspectivas, de métodos, de prácticas materiales y discursivas, y más en profundidad, de ideas. Así, la autorreflexión disciplinaria en la arqueología puede llevar al centro de los debates ideas consideradas como obvias, como propias del ejercicio profesional e intelectual, pero que esconden tras de sí cargas semánticas y sentidos históricos que definen la acción y los resultados de quienes buscan hacer de la muda materialidad del pasado objeto de estudio
