Lejos del Nido, Juan Jose Botero, Antioquian novel, narrative about captivity, indianismAbstract
Lejos del nido, a novel by the Antioquian author Juan Jose Botero, has enjoyed wide diffusion in the region and in the country since its publication in 1924, and this inspite of its rather prejudiced vision of indigenous people. The novel has been published without interruption and has been adapted to television. Despite that, it has not been the object of a specialized critical study as a Latin American novel with an indigenous theme. This article assumes this critical study, starting with leaving the conventional category of Indianism —in which it would be possible to place the work given its apparent 19th century spirit—, with the plausible result of placing it in the category of a narrative about an experience in captivity
