El profesor Manuel Morales es investigador en las áreas de lingüística, neurolingüística y procesos cognitivos y del lenguaje, se ha formado como: Doctor en Lingüística Aplicada de la Universidad Pompeu Fabra, Magister en Estética de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Especialista en Semiótica y Hermenéutica de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Licenciado en Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana y posee un título de Pregrado en Derecho de la Universidad de Antioquia.
