Abstract

Science popularization is a need and a right of a society that requires knowledge. Current efforts, particularly in Mexico, are still emerging, since the generation and progress of sciences and disciplines are still centralized in universities and research centers, where science popularization is active amongse-lected pairs or groups who can encode information. However, it is important to disseminateinformation en masse, with anunderstandable code and the use of current technological advancements. The Design and Culture Academic Group results fromconsidering science popularizationas a priority in the field of research. This group is composed by researchers from various disciplines and promotes  the  research  area“Design  and  technology  in  popular  science”.  The  multidisciplinary  formation of its members has facilitated the development of different research projects with various sponsoring  institutions  such  as  CONACYT,  CONCYTEG,and  PROMEP,  as  well  as  a  pyramidal  structure:  doctors,  doctoral  students,  teachers,  graduate  students,  educators,  and  studentsas  the  main actors from all the educational levels;therefore, the products obtained come from human resource development and from the empowerment in the field of research. As a result, popular science becomes an educational tool that transcends formal education and reveals the scope of knowledge to all the participants. It is therefore a point of contact between design, technology, and pedagogy.
