Immunology is one of the biomedical sciences that had, worldwide, a greater development in the last part of the XX century and the beginning of the present century. In Antioquia, immunology also had important developments that began in the 1960s. In the third part of this historical review, the author exposes his personal view about the present situation and the future challenges of immunology at the scientific, pedagogical and administrative levels in the University of Antioquia.
