This artic1e talks about a research project based on the following question: ¿Which are the relationships among researching, production and practices of legal knowledge at the law school of the University of Antioquia? Firstly, it draws on the theoretical perspective of Pierre Bourdieu about the social fields, specifically about the legal and scientific fields. Secondly, it depicts the different discourses and practices about research at the law school, this is, a "formalist knowledge focused on professional training discourse", a "formal incorporation of researching discourse" and a "researching as coming up with problems discourse". Finally, as a result ofthe above mentioned question, it is found out that, on one hand, there is not only one way of thinking the concept of researching and that the relationships among researching and production oflegal knowledge varies according to the discourse and, on the other hand, there is a predominance of a "formalist knowledge focused on professional training" discourse. For this discourse researching is not a necessary practice at the law school.
