Expériences de bénévolat et développement de l’identité professionnelle chez des traducteurs et interprètes au Pérou

Les études sur la traduction et l’interprétation ont analysé la construction de l’identité professionnelle dans des contextes institutionnels, professionnels et de formation. Cependant, peu d’attention a été accordée à l’impact du bénévolat sur le développement de l’identité professionnelle, une activité pourtant courante dans le milieu de la traduction et de l’interprétation. Cette recherche visait à explorer l’influence de la participation au bénévolat en traduction et en interprétation sur le développement de l’identité professionnelle. Pour cela, une méthodologie qualitative a été appliquée par le biais d’entretiens avec 16 traducteurs et interprètes péruviens (8 étudiants en dernière année et 8 professionnels). Les étudiants ont déclaré que le bénévolat leur offrait des opportunités telles que le placement professionnel et l’intégration dans la communauté, tandis que les professionnels appréciaient avant tout l’apprentissage continu et la possibilité de réfléchir à la contribution sociale de leur travail. Les résultats aident à comprendre le bénévolat comme une expérience de développement professionnel pour les traducteurs et les interprètes à différents stades de leur carrière, et comme un outil qui facilite l’articulation entre la formation et l’activité professionnelle, ainsi que le positionnement du groupe professionnel au sein de la société.
