TRANSLATION AND CONVERSION AS WAYS OF CREATING COUNTER-HEGEMONIC IDENTITIES. THE CASE OF IBERIAN CULTURES

This article is part of our studies of the processes of ethnogenesis in historical and contemporary Iberian cultures and their relationship to religious identity. In these processes, religious conversion is the heart of the (re) creation of ethnic boundaries. In this paper, we will highlight the benefits of a transdisciplinary perspective based on the interconnection between translation studies and religious conversion, to analyze the creation of identities against a hegemonic-Iberian context. From the presentation of the Andalusian case we will move to examples of the American continent.
