Abstract

At a time when the individual identity serves as a basis to comprehend the relations between individuals in a society, it can be taken into account that the individual’s formation process springs up as a response derived from internal and external experiences. Through a theoretical approach to Wolfgang Welsch’s transcultural model, it is our purpose to verify how this contact takes place. In order to illustrate these relations, the literary project of the Syrian author Rafik Schami will be analyzed, whose oeuvre is characterized by a transcultural character.
