Résumé

Depuis quelques décennies, le potentiel de la traduction en tant que forme d’activisme, de résistance et de mécanisme de déstabilisation contre certains discours hégémoniques sur l’histoire suscite l’intérêt des études de traduction. Au moyen d’une étude de cas avec une autoréflexion sur le processus de traduction qui a eu lieu, nous visons à mettre en évidence comment cet exercice académique peut devenir un outil dans la lutte contre l’oubli. En prenant une série de lettres écrites par Paul Wendorf, américain membre des Brigades Internationales pendant la Guerre Civile Espagnole (1936-1939), nous avons l’intention de souligner la valeur historiographique et documentaire de son témoignage. Le but est de contribuer à la création d’une mémoire transnationale par sa traduction en espagnol, et que celle-ci, à son tour, serve de forme de réparation pour les victimes et autres personnes touchées par le conflit. L’écriture et la narration intimes d’événements traumatiques rendent nécessaire, dans ce cas, l’adoption d’un cadre théorique qui incorpore les courants théoriques de la traduction émotionnelle et affective et qui permet, aussi, une approche critique d’une narration autobiographique et partielle du pays à cette époque, décrit d’un point de vue extérieur. Cette recherche ne se contente pas d’approfondir les définitions théoriques de la discipline, mais elle fournit également des cadres d’analyse et des solutions de traduction pour aborder la traduction de textes de thématique et de genre similaires.

Irene Rodríguez Arcos, Universidad de Salamanca

Professeure associée au département de traduction et d'interprétation de l'université de Salamanque (Espagne). Titulaire d'une licence en traduction et interprétation, d'un master en traduction et médiation interculturelle et d'un doctorat en sciences sociales (spécialisé en traduction et médiation interculturelle) de l'université de Salamanque. Elle enseigne des cours de traduction générale et spécialisée au niveau licence et master dans les combinaisons linguistiques anglais-espagnol et français-espagnol. Elle est membre du groupe de recherche certifié « Traduction, idéologie et culture » (TRADIC) et collabore en tant que traductrice avec le groupe « Les internationaux et la guerre civile espagnole : littérature, engagement et mémoire ». Ses recherches portent sur les études de traduction journalistique et publicitaire, la traduction et le genre, ainsi que la traduction et l'histoire.
