Abstract

Valentín García  Yebra's disappearance leaves many of his students orphaned. He was guide and light in the world of translation. As a translator he has contributed with several bilingual books of classic literature (Latin and Greek), that are of great help to students. The didactics in his work, eventhough not always visible, is always very interesting. As the teacher that he certainly was during a great part of his life, he contributed with remarkable books on translation that have been and will continue being mandatory to scholars on translation. Theory and practice have been paired up in the work of García Yebra. One could agree with or looked upon his legacy. However, no one can deny his important contribution to the world of translation studies of the 20th century.
