Abstract

This paper aims to present the Romance languages connections as a factor which determines the translation between languages of this family. First, we take the Berman's idea "vernaculars network" and we relate it with the theories made by Romance linguistics and Romance philology. For this purpose, we describe articulation of Latino-speaking  territories, the Romania, and we outline the evolution on the synchronic and the diachronic axis. Whereas differentiating one Romania Maior and one Romania Minor, we list the languages descended from Latin, we define the power relations and (cross-)cultural relations between them and we present two contrasting dynamics that operate in the Latin space at the current context of globalization. Finally, we expect that these analyses provide tools for researchers and translators who wish to work in the Romance sphere.
