Abstract

Brazilian translation studies, from their beginnings until the present day, have come a long way. From the foundational texts of Haroldo and Augusto de Campos, until today, Brazilian translation scholars had built a sustained international acknowledgement. From Canada's point of view, Brazilian translation scholars production is of utmost interest, that may be the main reason to explain why from 1990 to the present day, in the two most important Canadian translation studies journals, Brazilian authors have held a place of choice. In this article we will examine Brazilians scholars' analysis about themselves, their work, and the evolution of the discipline in their country, in the two mentioned Canadian journals. Those texts show us the progress in Brazilian translation studies as a result of  metareflexion of their own agents; they also suggest that either practitioners and translation scholars in both countries, have been preparing the path for a widespread academic collaboration in the Americas, where reading and listening to the voice of the Other and listening is a priority.
