Abstract

In this text, we will examine the integration of Italian literature in the editorial policies of the publisher Globo, which started its operations at the beginning of the 20th century, in Porto Alegre, until 1986, when its headquarters were transferred to Rio de Janeiro, on the occasion of its sale to Organizações Globo. The study of the entrance of foreign literature in southern Brazil makes it possible to deepen the knowledge and understanding of the various aspects of a social reality that accommodated the so-called “golden age of translation”, an editorial phenomenon manifest between the 1930’s until the end of the decade of 1940, and which, in its initial phase, turned its attention towards Italian literature.
