In hermeneutic-orientedqualitative research, the state of affairs is a phaseintended to understand and interpret the achieved level of knowledge on recent scientific production on the subject to be studied. To understand this subject thoroughly, researchers explore documentary information systems in search for texts produced as a result of scientific research. This exploration produces some data that are iconographically represented, and the most relevant information is selected according to the researcher`s point of view, to be later analyzed in a hermeneutical manner: by reflecting, analyzing and comparing, similarities and differences are established, and units of meaning are detected with the intention of understanding and interpreting them in order to validate a research problem with its respective hypothesis and to open a possible horizon of creation.
