Abstract

Currently, as the research of sign languages advances and as studies in translation are able to get away even more traditional linguistic paradigms, new reflections are being generated on interdisciplinary research in unexplored areas. These reflections pose new questions about the same translatological questions of old: What do the linguistic studies reveal about the situation of sign language? Is it possible to speak of translation to and from sign language? What are the challenges imposed by the dynamics of sign languages on translation studies today? These questions are addressed in this article,with the aim of a briefly reviewing the literature on this subject in order to make the community aware of the translatological issues which it involves and which have yet to be explored.
