Personalidade e carga emocional na tradução de depoimentos sobre câncer de mama

A presente pesquisa se concentra em analisar o impacto ou a influência que a personalidade e a carga emocional dos depoimentos de câncer de mama têm sobre a precisão e a qualidade das traduções. Para isso, foi elaborado um estudo experimental no qual um grupo de tradutores teve de ler e traduzir dois depoimentos de câncer de mama (um com valência positiva e outro com valência negativa), além de realizar uma série de testes psicométricos. Com base na literatura existente, foram postuladas três hipóteses: 1) as traduções do texto com carga negativa seriam muito mais precisas do que as do texto com carga positiva; 2) os tradutores altamente sensíveis produziriam melhores traduções, mas teriam níveis mais altos de ansiedade; e 3) aqueles com um autoconceito mais elevado teriam um desempenho pior em ambas as traduções. Os resultados mostraram que as traduções do texto negativo foram de fato muito mais precisas em termos de transmissão de significado e terminologia. No que diz respeito à alta sensibilidade, os participantes altamente sensíveis tiveram um desempenho melhor somente na tradução do texto positivo. Quanto ao impacto do autoconceito, nossa hipótese só foi corroborada nas traduções do texto negativo.
