Le principe et l'effet de la redondance dans la conservation et le transfert d'expressions idiomatiques en anglais langue étrangère

Résumé

Le principe et l'effet de la redondance semblent être un obstacle à l'apprentissage dans divers domaines. Cet article rend compte d'une recherche qui tente de vérifier si une telle redondance a également des effets négatifs sur l'apprentissage des expressions idiomatiques en anglais langue étrangère. Deux groupes d'étudiants ont été exposés à deux types de présentations multimodales : l'une constituée de texte à l'écran, de récit et d’image fixe ; et l'autre constituée de texte et de récit à l'écran. Selon le principe de redondance, la présentation du premier groupe dupliquerait l'information et conduirait à une surcharge cognitive. Bien que les résultats indiquent qu'il n'y a pas de variation majeure entre les deux groupes en termes de rétention, il y a dans le transfert des variations attribuables aux caractéristiques sémantiques du vocabulaire présenté.
