Transferência negativa do espanhol ao inglês das vogais /ʌ/ y /æ/

Resumo

O objetivo deste estudo descritivo não experimental é descobrir se a transferência linguística negativa, produzida pela percepção auditiva do espanhol, é responsável dos erros ortográficos encontrados nos textos escritos de alunos de quinto básico de um colégio bilíngue espanhol-inglês da cidade de Concepción, Chile. Os sujeitos deste estudo participaram em uma prova de percepção oral, em que tinham que representar as vogais do inglês /ʌ/ y /æ/ –estas vogais estavam presentes em doze pseudopalavras–. Os resultados, em concordância com a literatura sobre o assunto, sugerem que existe influência dos fonos do espanhol na percepção das vogais do inglês, para pseudopalavras tanto dentro de um contexto semântico como isoladas.
