English teacher research in a continuing education program

This article presents a study on the nature of the research done by Englsh teachers in a continuing education program. The topics and sources of their projects are discussed as well as the procedures used, the teachers'perception of their own role as researchers, and the effect of their projects in their institutions. The results show that, in spite of the tensions throughout the process, English teachers who carry out research become more aware of and committed to their professional work.
