Oportunidades e incentivos para tornar-se bilingue na Colômbia: Implicações para o Programa Nacional de Bilinguismo

O Programa Nacional de Bilinguismo (PNB) procura desenvolver domínio do inglês na sociedade colombiana com o fim de posicioná-la em processos mundiais de comunicação, na economia global e em um mundo cada vez mais intercultural. A partir de dados documentais e estatísticos, caracterizamos neste estudo de caso o PNB como um caso de planejamento linguístico de aquisição e argumentamos que algumas das condições sociais que promovem o bilinguismo não estão o suficientemente desenvolvidas no contexto colombiano. Especificamente, sustentamos que o número de vagas de trabalho que requerem trabalhadores bilingues e os padrões de mobilidade internacionais de colombianos(as) oferecem poucas oportunidades e incentivos para desenvolver o bilinguismo na dimensão que o PNB propõe.
