Croyances sur l’apprentissage d’une langue étrangère dans le contexte universitaire

Résumé

Dans cette étude, les croyances des étudiants de l’institution universitaire Tecnológico de Antioquia (TdeA) ont été caractérisées et analysées en ce qui concerne l’apprentissage de l’anglais comme langue étrangère. Le but a été d’identifier ces croyances avec l’intention d’améliorer le programme institutionnel d’enseignement de langues. Le groupe de participants choisi était composé d’étudiants d’anglais de niveau 1 à niveau 6 (161 femmes et 77 hommes). Ces nombres ont été calculés à l’aide d’une matrice d’échantillon. La collecte de donnés a été accomplie par le biais de la technique d’entretien, guidée par un instrument nommé BALLI (Beliefs About Language Learning Inventory). Les données obtenues ont été analysées moyennant la statistique descriptive et des tableaux de contingence. La recherche possède une approche quantitative et correspond à une conception transversale descriptive.        

Les résultats obtenus ont permis d’établir que la plupart de participants à l’étude ont une forte motivation instrumentale et intégrative vers l’apprentissage de l’anglais. Également, nous avons découvert que les facteurs de la nature de la langue et les stratégies d’apprentissage représentent un grand défi pour eux. Enfin, il est conclu que les participants interrogés ont des croyances erronées par rapport à l’apprentissage de l’anglais. Ces croyances erronées donnent lieu à des barrières, ce que ne permet pas la performance linguistique.

Juan Fernando Gómez Paniagua, Tecnológico de Antioquia IU

Diplômé en éducation de base avec une spécialisation en anglais à la Fondation universitaire Luis Amigó, à Medellín, Colombie en 2001. Professeur d'anglais à l'Institut technologique d'Antioquia et à l'Institution universitaire Salazar y Herrera de Medellín. Il a effectué des études de troisième cycle à l'Université de Jaén (Espagne). Master en linguistique appliquée à l'enseignement de l'anglais comme langue étrangère en 2011.
